“He would remember that as one of the defining moments of his career”

Former Group India fielding coach R Sridhar reckons that being dropped from the limited-overs squads as keeper in favor of KL Rahul ought to rely as a defining second in Rishabh Pant’s profession. Sridhar revealed that the latter labored exceptionally onerous to enhance his glovework following the setback.

Pant was not picked within the white ball squads for the 2020-21 tour of Australia. Rahul was picked as the principle keeper-batter, whereas Sanju Samson was chosen because the second keeper.

Stating that it might be unfair to check the southpaw to any of his predecessors, the previous Indian fielding coach expressed confidence that Pant would carve a distinct segment for himself. He concluded:

“He’ll make a reputation for himself in his personal type. How huge that will be, solely time will inform. He’s come on in leaps and bounds as a wicketkeeper. The way in which he’s labored his bottom off to enhance his conserving, I used to be very lucky to be a small a part of that journey.”

Having made his worldwide debut in 2017, Pant has represented India in 31 Checks, 27 ODIs and 58 T20Is.
